{"id":99917656,"date":"2026-01-23T22:13:11","date_gmt":"2026-01-23T22:13:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ppmco.foxtrotdev.com\/?p=99917656"},"modified":"2026-01-23T22:13:13","modified_gmt":"2026-01-23T22:13:13","slug":"your-winter-storm-checklist-prescriptions-doctor-visits-and-more","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ppmco.foxtrotdev.com\/?p=99917656","title":{"rendered":"Your Winter Storm Checklist: Prescriptions, Doctor Visits and More"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>We Are Here for You<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The National Weather Service is forecasting a severe winter storm in our area beginning Saturday night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The storm will bring heavy snow and ice as well as dangerously cold temperatures.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Travel will be impacted.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Power outages may occur.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As your partner in health, we want to make sure you have access to those services and supplies you depend upon to support your health and well-being. Follow this checklist to prepare:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Prescriptions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Pick up any prescriptions that are ready<\/strong>. Make every effort to get to the pharmacy to pick you your prescription(s) as soon as possible, and before the storm hits.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Consider getting an early refill.<\/strong> If a State of Emergency is declared, you can refill a prescription early. You can also obtain a four-day supply of non-formulary (not covered) drugs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Have a backup plan for refrigerated medication. <\/strong>If your medicine needs to be kept in the fridge, talk to your pharmacist about what to do if you lose power.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Download your pharmacy\u2019s mobile app<\/strong> so you can keep track of store closures and other weather-related information that may impact your prescriptions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Doctor Visits<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Reschedule any cancelled appointments. <\/strong>If you or your doctor\u2019s office had to cancel an appointment due to the storm, make a new appointment as soon as you can. Don\u2019t let it slip your mind \u2014 your health is too important.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Use telehealth if you can\u2019t leave home. <\/strong>You have access to <a href=\"https:\/\/ppmco.foxtrotdev.com\/find-care-now\/virtual-care\/\">24\/7 telehealth services<\/a>. Your doctor or specialist may also offer video appointments. Check with their office.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ask for a ride to an appointment.<\/strong> If you are not able or do not feel safe to drive, request a ride. Priority Partners can arrange free rides to and from medical appointments that meet all qualifications. Call\u00a0<a href=\"tel:8006549728\">800-654-9728<\/a>\u00a0to request transportation. Except for same-day urgent care visits, please request transportation at least 48 business hours (not including weekends) before your scheduled appointment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>We\u2019re here for you <\/strong>\u2014 weekdays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call <a href=\"tel:18006549728\">800-654-9728<\/a> (TTY: 711).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our support team will continue to be available during normal hours of operation. If services are disrupted, we will add a message on the phone line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Be Prepared<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Make sure your phone and other devices are fully charged before the storm in case of power outages.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collect flashlights and check batteries.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pick up anything on the floor of your house that may cause you to trip. If you lose power, it may be harder to see.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Keep important phone numbers handy in case of emergency. If you have important numbers on your phone, write them down in case you lose battery charge.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make sure you have a supply of drinking water in advance in case water service is interrupted.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make sure you have enough food to last through the storm and beyond in case your ability to travel to the grocery store is impacted by weather.
