The government shutdown that began on Oct. 1 has stopped SNAP food benefits, and you may be worried about feeding your family. At Priority Partners, we are committed to your health and well-being. We want to make sure you know what help is available and where to find food assistance. Keep in mind that <strong>Maryland Medicaid is not affected at this time<\/strong>. Priority Partners is here for you, and we will keep you updated as things change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-purple-color has-text-color has-link-color has-h-4-font-size wp-elements-4c2416986095c6cb2f575e268d6cc57d\">What\u2019s Happening<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>SNAP (Food Stamps) has been suspended. This means thatno SNAP benefits were put on electronic benefit transfer (EBT) cards in November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>These benefits are STILL working:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Cash assistance<\/strong> (Temporary Disability Assistance and Temporary Cash Assistance) \u2014 Maryland is still issuing cash assistance in November at this time.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>WIC<\/strong> (Women, Infants and Children Program) \u2014 Still giving benefits for now. The Maryland Department of Health will provide regular updates to recipients.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Medical Assistance<\/strong> \u2014 All health programs still working.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Maryland Medicaid<\/strong> \u2014 NOT affected right now.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-purple-color has-text-color has-link-color has-h-4-font-size wp-elements-63fcab440741074d81d5d878e6aaa5b9\">How to Get Food Help<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Governor Moore is sending $10 million to food banks and food programs to help families. See the <a href=\"https:\/\/governor.maryland.gov\/news\/press\/Documents\/10-30-25%20State%20of%20Emergency%20Fact%20Sheet%20%28Accessible%29.pdf\">Governor\u2019s Fact Sheet<\/a> for more information and food resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Where to Find Food<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Local food banks<\/strong> \u2014 If you live anywhere in Maryland other than Montgomery or Prince George\u2019s counties, find one near you at <a href=\"https:\/\/mdfoodbank.org\/find-food\/\">mdfoodbank.org\/find-food<\/a>. If you live in Montgomery or Prince George\u2019s counties, find one near you at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.capitalareafoodbank.org\/get-help\/\">capitalareafoodbank.org\/get-help<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Community food programs<\/strong> \u2014 Visit the <strong>211 Maryland<\/strong> website at <a href=\"https:\/\/search.211md.org\/\">search.211md.org<\/a> to locate the nearest food pantry, food bank and other resources.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Priority Partners Cupboards<\/strong> \u2014 Go to one of our many free self-serve mini-pantries in Maryland. These operate on a take what you need, leave what you can basis. Find one near you at <a href=\"https:\/\/ppmco.foxtrotdev.com\/es\/proyecto-cupboards\/\">ppmco.org\/cupboardsproject<\/a>. Plus, Priority Partners will be adding two new mini-pantries in the area in December!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>FindHelp<\/strong> \u2014 Locate free or reduced-cost resources like food, housing, financial assistance and more at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.findhelp.org\/\">FindHelp.org<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>United Way of Central Maryland<\/strong> \u2014 Visit <a href=\"https:\/\/uwcm.org\/your211\">uwcm.org\/your211<\/a> to find help with food and other resources or dial their <strong>211 Helpline<\/strong>. They are adding more staff to the <strong>211 Helpline<\/strong> so more people can get help when they call and speeding up help to people who need food and other basic needs right now.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-purple-color has-text-color has-link-color has-h-4-font-size wp-elements-4cd9443400eb457f3c694c38d6345e6e\">What You Should Do Now<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Keep applying for benefits.<\/strong> Even though SNAP is paused, you should apply for SNAP and other benefits at <a href=\"https:\/\/benefits.maryland.gov\/\">MarylandBenefits.gov<\/a>. The Maryland Department of Human Services is still taking new applications. Be sure to <strong>update your information<\/strong> on the website. This will help you get benefits faster when SNAP starts again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Need help?
